Before I head to the lake again, I thought it might be fun to show you a few pics of the wedding hankies I embroidered for my daughter’s best friend. It was a wonderful wedding, a couple of weeks ago. The bride, Emily, asked for these hankies for her mom, her gram, and her MIL.
Even though I gave these to her as a gift, I have been known to sell them in my etsy.com/shop/ACreativEye. I was tired of looking at my master bath pics in the previous posts! These pics are a nice change from the DIY stuff we have been tackling for the past many months!
On to the lake and a boat ride! Life is good…

You do beautiful work. If I embroider on a vintage hankie, do I need to use 60wt thread? If so does it come in a variety of colors and where is good place to buy it?

I have only used 60 weight one time. I don’t find it necessary if you can adjust your parameters to make your lettering less dense, and widen the pull compensation (BOLD in Monogram Wizard Plus.) No underlay, because that would be too many stitches in a very small area. Google 60 weight embroidery thread to find a source.

Beth, are you doing small lettering? With MWP, I assume? Have you looked at my two blog posts? They are step by step instructions, with many pics to help.
If you mean you can’t find my small lettering tips that are in the files of the MWP FaceBook group, then I can just let you know that for any lettering that is .50 or smaller, I suggest DEcreasing the DENSITY to about .90-.95. INCREASE the BOLD, which widens the WIDTH of a very tight or skinny satin stitch, to about 105 -110. NO underlay checked. That adds too many “under” stitches for small lettering. DO TEST ALL of these settings by test stitching. I still do, every time, with any lettering that I have not already tested. STARCH your hanky and use WSS, two layers. I Hope this helps.

Do you want to email me at quirkykim@comcast.net? Send me the poem and the name? I will play a bit in MWP and see what might work best for you, along with proper settings. Do you have about a 12″ x 12″ hanky? What brand of thread do you use?
